Compared to other types of wool, merino wool is always fine and soft, generally less than 24 micron (μm) in diameter. Yet, it is graded by its fineness to produce yarn. The finer the wool used to produce the yarn is, the softer it will be on the skin. Fine merino wool can be worn directly on the skin in items such as gloves, hats, scarfs or socks or as a second layer.
Certifications
Mulesing-free
Mulesing is a practice in which skin is removed from the rear of the Merino sheep in order to prevent parasitic infections from flies. It is efficient but controversial because of its cruelty. Alternatives exist through selection of resistant animals with lower skin wrinkling and through the use of non-surgical alternatives. Mulesing-free guarantees that wool is sourced from non-mulesed merino sheep.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100
Standard 100 certification guarantees that the certified item has been tested against harmful substances and that it is therefore harmless for human health. Tests are conducted by independent institutes based on criteria of Standard 100. Absence of numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health are verified. Limit values for the STANDARD 100 often go beyond national and international requirements.

Discover Khangar advantages
Merino wool is the most effective natural form of all-weather protection while being the finest and softest. Khangar uses a maximum of merino wool for softness and warmth. The amount of merino wool is 70% to 90% depending on the model (high merino wool content). In addition to merino wool, Khangar uses organic cotton core-spun yarn instead of polyamide to reduce the presence of synthetic material while maintaining elasticity and durability.
For everyday use, merino wool keeps your feet cooler (thermoregulation) while absorbing and evacuating excess of moisture (breathable). During the day, unpleasant smell caused when sweat degrades is blocked away by merino fibers (antibacterial). Socks stay fresh much longer. Last but not least, Khangar socks need less care and can be worn many days in a row. They are stains resistant, machine washable and they can be tumble-dried (TEC : Total Easy Care).
Khangar socks are made using certified yarns
